BUCKINGHAM GLIDEBOARD

Specially designed with contoured edges and splayed arms, this board can work around chair arms or wheels whilst still providing maximum contact to the surface area and giving you excellent stability. These edges also make it simple to insert or remove from underneath, avoiding unnecessary lifting. With smooth sliding, this board reduces strain for both carer and user by up to 30%. Simple and easy to use. The seat rides all the way to the edge of the board, letting you easily position your body on top of it. It has an easily detachable seat with no attachments or sliding mechanisms, and the whole board is made up of only 2 plastic components. There is a reduced risk of skin entrapment during transfer as the seat is in constant contact with the board. The seat of the Glideboard does all the work reducing the risk of skin sheering experienced by so many users of traditional transfer boards. An asymmetrical design lets you position the Glideboard in one of multiple ways to best suit your individual needs, and the type and length of transfer you are doing. Suitable for transfers from: wheelchairs, chairs, beds, or cars. With such a simple construction, it is easy to use as well as to transport and store. Designed to have zero dirt traps, the Glideboard is easy to clean with a wipe, or soap and water. The Glideboard is the end product of a united design project between Occupational Therapist Chris Buckingham, Bournemouth University Orthopaedic Research Institute, and Salisbury Spinal Unit.
