MASD Awareness Day
17th March 2022
Moisture Associated Skin Damage (MASD)

Inaugural MASD Awareness Day
Wippet is proud to partner with Medline to support their cause to raise awareness for Moisture Associated Skin Damage (MASD).

From Medline

Incidence rates of MASD are as high as 29%1 in some clinical settings and we believe raising awareness and understanding of MASD can lead a reduction by introducing the right product at the earliest opportunity.

That is why we have partnered with Julie Tyrer, Tissue Viability Nurse to launch the MASD Awareness Day. With this we are hosting webinars and discussion forums to learn from experts in the field. We have also funded free digital toolkits that you can register to receive, so you can raise awareness in your own care facility.

Back in 2017, Julie Tyrer, Tissue Viability Nurse Consultant at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS FT started an initiative to MINIMISE Moisture™.  The aim of this initiative was to increase awareness of MASD risk factors among healthcare professionals with the implementation of a new protocol to prevent and manage MASD in patients. The results were impressive with 96% of staff surveyed better able to identify patients at risk. This new level of understanding also contributed to a threefold reduction in MASD cases between April 2019 and February 2020.

Launch of MINIMISE Moisture initiative at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital

On 17th March 2022, we invite everyone to participate in the inaugural MASD Awareness Day and create their own MINIMISE Moisture initiatives.

The aim of this first MASD Awareness Day is to get everyone to THINK MASD and have a plan to MINIMISE Moisture for those patients most at risk of developing  MASD.

What does it involve?

We would like you all to run your own local MINIMISE Moisture campaigns on 17 March and together we can raise awareness of MASD as an avoidable harm.

To help you get started, we have worked with Julie to develop a MINIMISE Moisture digital campaign kit containing posters and an educational leaflet for both staff and patients.
